The 24th South Island Masters Games proves that age is no obstacle to enjoying sport, offering a wide range of activities and drawing thousands of competitors from across the South Island and beyond.

The Games aim is to inspire participation, where both camaraderie and competition are celebrated. Whether it’s striving for a podium finish, beating a personal record, reconnecting with friends, or soaking in the vibrant social atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.

Most sports have no qualification requirements beyond age, meaning anyone can compete — whether it’s for glory or just for the joy of the game.

Our 2025 motto is ‘SIMG – Connect, Compete & Celebrate.’

Social Activities

The South Island Masters Games Social Events are written in the folklore of time, providing an opportunity for participants, officials and supporters to let down their hair (what they have left) and enjoy an evening socialising with old friends and meeting new ones.

2025 will be filled with entertainment and fun times, from the first day to the last.
